Projects of bridge : Project of SNC-Lavalin / GENIVAR (2004)

The civil engineers chose a slender, simple and transparent structure which fits beautifully in the scenery of the Saguenay river estuary. The deck appears like a ribbon over the river . It has been designed by Michel Virlogeux, a french civil engineer who designed the Normandy bridge and the Viaduc de Millau. The bridge, a four lane road, will be 400 meters upstream from the present ferry itinerary. Its deck will have a 2.1% slope climbing from east to west.
